As we sit in our new conservatory watching the pair of collared doves in the garden, we discuss what has happened in the last few weeks. We had short-listed three companies but decided to put our faith in you.

From our initial meeting in your showrooms with Nick Robinson and his subsequent visit to our house, everything then went smoothly. In a society where one only seems to hear about disasters and problems and errors, it was refreshing to experience something where all stages of the job just "happened" - and on time. Although we had been promised the loan by our bank, I wouldn't place a firm order until the money was in our account (call me cautious!). Nick however was very patient, not hassling us for a decision. Once we gave the go-ahead, Julie then kept us fully in the picture at each stage. The detailed measuring up, digging out for the foundations, building the dwarf wall and finally replacing the windows and erecting the conservatory all took place when she said it would, by guys who were extremely professional in their attitude, polite and cheerful and a credit to your Company. Inconvenience to use was kept to a minimum, the old windows were removed from our front lawn the same day and the new ones fitted very neatly.

The decision to go for new windows without the old horizontal bar across the middle and with a leaded border was a "gamble" but we are delighted with the result. The view through the windows appears "larger" and, in particular, we love the way the room lighting "picks out" the leading during the evening. As for the conservatory itself, it has received very complimentary comments from all who have viewed it and we are genuinely delighted.

1. Personal recommendation from a work colleague was very strong.
2. Company A (not a million miles from Morrisons) ruled themselves out within seconds when, after we had been looking around in their showroom, the salesperson appeared with his hand in his pockets and his ipod earphones dangling. Call me old-fashioned perhaps but initial impressions are so very important.
3. Company B are based in Black Country but with strong connections for many years with Bromsgrove. Their premises were not that impressive but we decided that perhaps this meant that they put their efforts into the product. Their salesperson arrived on time at our house and initially made quite a good impression - until he tried to show us examples of other installations. His "presenter" was falling to pieces, the photos a complete jumble. Their case was weakening. Then, they used sub-contractors and wanted stage payments. Their written quote was quite a bit cheaper than yours but the way it was presented was shoddy; yours was so much more professional. What clinched it however, was when I looked at their website. It was full of simple basic errors of grammar and spelling. That clinched it; no was was I going to entrust a substantial amount of my money to them.
